Kirkestinden and Mattagaisi
July 2007: Bardu, Troms - Northern Norway
With two years having passed since I last visited Arctic Norway, I wanted my fix of 24hour sunshine again. I chose Bardufoss as my destination. What I found was a large mountain range almost completely untracked.

Skjervan and Middagstinden seen from Nonstinden's summit
October 2006: Sunmøre and Ålesund
After a busy year, it was time to make some time for a vacation. Where better than Norway? This trip describes my camping trip to Ålesund and the Sunmøre alps. The scenery is world class, but the weather was less than rosy!

Rain clearing in upper Innerdalen
August 2005: Trollheimen
This was my third trip to Norway in a year. As part of my book writing project, I wanted to visit this area as it offered fine mountains that were accessible to hillwalkers. I wasn't disappointed.

Stetind seen from the foretop
July 2005: Stetind & Lofoten
This trip was a highlight in my mountaineering career. Stetind is most definately Norway's finest mountain. But as my trip describes, it does not yield easily!

Trangdalsfjellet & Novatind seen from higher up the hillside
March 2005: Ofoten
The year before, I was invited to learn skiing in Arctic Norway. It was an offer I couldn't refuse! But with injury before the trip, it was not an easy ride.

Midnight sun shining on Beassetcohkka
June 2004: Narvik
After my previous Norway trip in Arctic Norway, I had to go back. This time I wanted to go earlier to catch the midnight sun. That I caught, but my penalty was more snow than I bargained for.

Fagertinden and Breitviktinden
seen from Kvalhornet
July 2003: Bodø & Saltfjellet
My first trip north of the Arctic Circle. With some of the most rugged scenery, along with astonashingly clear air at times, this trip was a feast for the eyes.

Hardangerjokulen seen on a nice day
on the other side of Finse
August 2002: Hardangervidda
Hardangervidda is Europe's largest mountain plateau. It is also one of Norway's largest expanses of wild land uninterrupted by roads or railways. My trip crosses this land, before circumventing the Hardangerjokulen icecap.

Velsesmeden and Storsmeden
June 2002: Rondane
This was my first trip abroad by myself. With a tight budget, I was looking for a nice part of Norway that I could reach easily from the Airport. Rondane fitted the bill, and for early June I got brilliant weather for a whole week.

Skardalsegga and Skardalstind
seen from Kyrkja
August 1999: Jotunheimen
This was my 2nd trip to Jotunheimen. The 1st trip has impressed on me greatly, and this trip with my then new camera made for a much better record of what these mountains were all about.

Knutsho seen from Bessvatnet across Gjende
August 1997: Jotumheimen
After I saw all the large mountains rising up in the middle of Southern Norway in a world atlas, I wanted visit them. This trip left a lasting impression on me that would send me back to Norway many times over. It was on this trip that I entertained the idea of living in Norway, little did I know that that would turn true 10 Years later.

A view of Bletoppen from the west
August 1995: Bletoppen & Gaustatoppen
This was my very first trip to Norway. It was very much an experimental visit to Southern Norway climbing "easy" summits that appeared on a map that we borrowed. I learned a lot about how different these mountains were to the ones in Wales.
